OFF TO THE JUNKIN' RACES

One of the many great signs at Pandora's
Box in Frankston, TX -- love it!
Hey, Y'all! It's the middle of January and I've already made a jaunt to Texas. I officially went to see that our son, Sweet Boy, made it back safely to Texas A&M at College Station. (Yeah, right -- LOL!) Anyway, I got an opportunity to meet his lovely girlfriend, visit with my folks and meet their new puppy, Sophie, and do a little junkin' too!
Puppy princess, Sophie!

A few days later, Sweet Boy and I hit the road looking at real estate properties in a pretty cool junkin' town.

Sweet Boy took this picture, adding a fun "vintage" app.
That's right -- ROUND TOP, TEXAS! -- Home to Royer's Round Top Cafe,  (HGTV's newest stars) The Junk Gypsies, and The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell, in addition to all the other great people who live and work there.

The Chapel at Festival Hill in Round Top -- beautiful even in winter!

Being his father's son, Sweet Boy obliged me to do a little shopping along the way. Love this cool peace sign light we saw in a shop in Old Spring!

He reintroduced me to chicken-fried steak with all the good stuff not on my diet. And I introduced him to Martha's Bloomers, just down the road from College Station. Martha's Bloomers is a wonderful place full of plants, great food, and everything you could want or need for your garden

Isn't this a dreamy garden work space?
Back at College Station, my mom (Mimi) joined us -- we got Sweet Boy settled in with a new bicycle, groceries, and lots of hugs. Then we headed back home to East Texas. My mom knows me well enough to know I'm incapable of driving directly from point A to point B without a stop or two! (Heck, she's the one who taught me the importance of taking the road less traveled!) So, it came as no surprise to her when I suggested we stop at Pandora's Box Antiques in Frankston, TX. I've been going to this incredible place for years. Here's why:

It was a bit of a shock to come back to snow and ice in Seattle, but spring junkin' can't be too far off as the Tacoma Home and Garden Show is this weekend!! I'm especially excited to see many friends who are setting up in the Vintage Market at the TH&GS.

In addition, coming up is FUNKY JUNK SISTERS JUNK SALVATION VINTAGE MARKET in Hillsboro, OR February 3 &4!! Garden Cat will be there with lots of cool JUNK and nifty treasures!
Then back to Texas when I'll be joining the Rodeo Queens March 16 & 17, and setting up Garden Cat at Petticoats on the Prairie Under the Big Top Vintage Market in Waxahachie!!
Stay tuned for more about all the fantastic upcoming spring Vintage Markets!

It's off to the junkin' races, my friends!

Peace, love, and all the good stuff, y'all!

A VERY PLUCKY PARTY!

Hey, Y’all! What a junktabulous time we had in Forest Grove at Plucky Maidens Junk Fest on November 19. The McMenamins Grand Lodge and Children’s Cottage was stuffed to the rafters with the most incredible vintage wares and hand-crafted items. Thanks to Pam Fromuth and Maria Raleigh for organizing such a terrific PLUCKY MAIDENS JUNK FEST!

Customers shopped in the warm glow of a
cherry fire downstairs in the Children's Cottage.

Jennifer Cramer-Hughes and Kim Crutcher of JUST CHIC in Forest Grove
had some great vintage furniture and tre's chic home accessories.

Another of JUST CHIC'S vignettes -- I'm especially
fond of the "Paris Cafe" stenciled window.

JUNK FEST FABULOUSNESS

Hey, Y'all! Most of you already know her by her award-winning blog, "One Gal's Trash." --If you don't, well, get ready because you're about to meet Junker Extraordinaire and a good friend of mine, Pam Fromuth. I was lucky enough to have Pam as a neighbor at Funky Junk Sisters Junk Salvation in Hillsboro, OR this past February. After that we got to catch up again at the Puyallup FJS Junk Salvation in May. Pam and her friend, Maria Raleigh of collage, both very smart and savvy ladies, came up with the brilliant idea to put together a wonderful vintage market this past summer called, PLUCKY MAIDENS JUNK FEST.

Pam and Maria are self-described as "two bold sassy and spunky women who have teamed up to host the best in junk and vintage shows." Their first PLUCKY MAIDENS JUNK FEST was a big hit to say the least. So, now they're at it again -- this time with a holiday theme and a new location at the super funky  McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, OR., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 19.
Since the dictionary describes the word, "plucky," as "courageous and spirited," you can just bet this vintage market will be a Junktabulous smorgasbord of vintage wares from some of the best vendors in the Pacific N.W.
Here's a sneaky-peaky at what we're loading for Garden Cat's booth at the Plucky Maidens JUNK FEST:
Hope you're feeling PLUCKY too and will come see us at the JUNK FEST on Saturday.

PEACE, LOVE, AND ALL THE PLUCKIEST STUFF TO Y'ALL!!

A JUNKIN' JUBILEE

Willownest of Burton, TX were special
guests at the November 2nd Saturdayz.
Hey y'all! What an incredible weekend it was here in the Pacific NW -- even a little (okay, a lot!) of rain couldn't dampen the great junkin' vibes going on all around. From 2nd Saturdayz to Girlfriends Holiday Market, to an estate sale and finally to Sumner to visit my buddies, Amy, Kris, and Catt at Todays Country Store.

One of Willownest's lovely displays.

It was so wonderful to see so many friends and find so many goodies to share as Christmas gifts.
